WE United did bigger collections of donations for refugees in Greece, Bosnia- Herzegovina and Poland with a large fundraising campaign and a high level of citizen participation in spring and autumn 2022. For the transport we worked together with the association Human-Aid-Collective from Chemnitz.
From March to June 2022, a clothing store and food distribution area was set up in downtown Weimar for people fleeing the war in Ukraine. Through the joint commitment of social organizations in the city, the city of Weimar and many private individuals, temporary accommodation and other assistance for the arrival in Germany could be made possible. With great solidarity, the people of the city of Weimar were able to create a wide range of offers and sensitivity for people who have fled, which will mean a change in how we deal with our fellow human beings in the future.
There are refugee movements all over the world, triggered by wars, conflicts, poverty and climate change. The number of people fleeing the world has never been higher than in 2022. The causes are not easy for civil society to combat. The escape routes are unsafe and people seeking help are put in life- threatening situations by dubious escape helpers. The rescue of refugees at sea and the provision of clothing, food and medical treatment along the escape routes and in many camps is carried out by various associations and initiatives, which can use any support.
We appeal to you:
Commitment is possible in various forms at local, regional, national and international level. Below you will find informative links:
